Saturday Literacy Community Program (SLCP) is a parent established not-for-profit literacy program for English speaking kids in Japanese kindergartens or schools.
Our aim is that our children are both bilingual and biliterate - able to read and write well in both English and Japanese - so they can have the best of both worlds.
We use a high quality English literacy program that is used extensively in the US elementary schools and in many bilingual schooling programs worldwide. Children are free to work at their own focused pace, and benefit greatly from being able to learn, play and help each other bilingual children. Learning is supported through a network of parent and community mentors providing the children with a broad range of English speaking voices and cultural experiences.
We meet nine or ten times each school term at the Mebuki Center, Ginowan City.
